xSinclare Posts: 2,907 Likes: +2,134 Level Eleven LEVEL 11	So I have been thinking about this for a bit today. And this idea makes sense for a bit more congruence with the network. Currently, anyone can view any punishment that has ever been made publicly on the MCC server via the punishment search system. However, Discord punishments are a different thing. And that's what I want to discuss here. I was the original owner of the Discord. Ex-Administrator Lukasz_ and I managed the MCC \| Community Discord. One thing we did early on was keep all punishments on the Discord private. I can't recall exactly why we did this. But that's just how it's been since the creation of the Discord. However, my perspective has changed on it and I want to see what you all think. My suggestion/idea is making the moderation/punishment logs public for all to see. We already have a public punishment system in one area, which I believe is a good thing. I think it makes sense to make this congruent with the Minecraft server. I'm not going to argue if this is a bad idea due to what I just mentioned. But if that's an issue, I don't think it's a topic for this thread necessarily. Sometimes they might not know who punished them and they might find messaging staff members to know who muted them hard. Thanks for making this thread. Teddzy Posts: 313 Likes: +149 Level Three LEVEL 3	I don't think it has any point viewing your punishment list besides to see how often you got punished. It's just more work/more channels and not important for players to look at. If they really want to see what punishments they received they can always just ask a staff member to check for them. And I think showing punishments publicly is a good thing because it helps with transparency and making situations such as appealing a lot easier. But if we got into a debate about that and the Minecraft server, that would be a bit separate of the topic for this thread. You and I both know using Dyno is very easy. Also couldn't the same argument be made for showing all punishments that have been made on the network publicly? Getting punished on Discord can be just as important as getting punished in-game. For example, if a player is going for staff. I think common points can be made between showing punishments publicly for the network and the Discord server. At the end of the day, it could make the process of finding punishments a bit easier when they can check the punishments channel and find information there. Personally, I think that publishing punishments wouldn't be all that necessary as most times people join the server to troll and intend to get punished. While the other bit of those people who didn't intend to get punish, they can always pm a staff, like what Teddzy said. Sorry if this reply wasn't useful.... I also understand where you're coming from, seeing as punishments are already public on the MCC site, this however would make no real difference in everyone's daily life on MCC or the Discord server. Keeping them private would be better for the player themselves as well- especially if they're not trying to get muted. Sorry if this is no help, but it is how I view this topic. This thread is a 50/50 for me, as it wouldn't affect my daily life in any way. While some players don't want to know their punishment history, this would certainly serve those who actually would like to do so at a glance. Instead of just seeing a "user was muted/banned" Dyno notification, you will have access to a more detailed list. Because everything that players will do on the Discord is public, there's no point in saying it infringes on anyone's privacy. But at the same time, Dyno sends you a message if you received a punishment on the MCC discord (if you have your messages open to everyone). In that case the player can check themselves how many punishments they received and when they did. Besides that, when players gets staff on MCC their punishments get hidden on the ban search right now as we don't clear them anymore. Same thing would have to apply to Discord and that's just extra work for something so small that isn't really necessary. Posted Jul 17, 19
